2020.  This year has tested all of us in ways unthinkable.  In spite of all the chaos, “Esperanza’s Turn” has traveled the globe lifting people’s spirits.  We are so pleased to announce several awards.  Congratulations especially to Heidi Zimmerman for winning Best Editing at iNDIE Film Festival in Phoenix and to Kelley Baker for winning Best Sound Design in the Cyrus International Film Festival in Toronto, Canada!

"Esperanza's Turn" continues on the festival circuit. Next stop is
the Phoenix Monthly Short Film Festival in Ontario, Canada. In November the film is an official selection for the Louisville International Film Festival in Kentucky. This will be the first time one of Melissa's films has screened in her home state! Also in November, we are honored to screen in Toronto at the Cyrus International Film Festival. Thank you Canada!

Due to the pandemic, this year's Oregon Short Film Festival was moved from Portland to The Sunshine Winery & Drive Up Theatre in The Dalles.  The festival had a fantastic turnout, and we heard there was a whole lot of honking after "Esperanza's Turn."  Melissa won Best Director and the film was nominated for Best Oregon Film.

“Esperanza’s Turn” is an official selection for the 10th annual Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival in Greater Noida, India.  Congrats to our team!  This is the first time one of Melissa’s films has screened outside of the U.S.  The festival has yet to announce whether they will proceed as usual or move to an online format.  Updates coming soon.

Esperanza's Turn is headed to wine country Feb. 21-23.  Look forward to celebrating with you in Oregon.

Melissa is currently undergoing treatment for Lyme Disease and co-infections in Scottsdale, Arizona, and learning a lot about her disease as well as cancer care.  A documentary is brewing.

 "Esperanza's Turn" is an official selection for iNDIE FILM FEST PHX 2020.  It will screen opening night, Feb. 7, at Film Bar in downtown Phoenix, Arizona.

"Esperanza's Turn" will make its U.S. debut at the 2020 International Peace & Film Festival in Orlando, Florida in January.  Details coming soon.

Melissa is thrilled to welcome Kelley Baker, aka "The Angry Filmmaker," on board as an editor for her first feature film, Live Out Loud.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the Oregon Independent Film Festival at The Clinton Street Theater. We were thrilled to receive two awards for "Circles." Congrats to our fantastic cast and crew! It takes a team.

"Century Farm" is an official selection for Farm Aid's inaugural Film2FarmAid Festival to be held Sept. 15-17, in Chicago's McCormick Place.

It will screen in the Shorts Program on Tues. Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.

"Circles" is an official selection for the 2nd Dream Film Showcase at the Kiggins Theatre in Vancouver, Washington.

It screens Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. in a program of international shorts.

“Burn,” Melissa’s 1 min. version of her music video reel recently screened in the 1 Minute Missoula Festival.

“The Land Between” is an official selection for LA Femme International Film Festival in Los Angeles! The film screens along with the feature Silent Ones on Thurs., Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. at the Regal Theatre Stadium 14 LA Live, 1000 W. Olympic Blvd. Los Angeles. Tickets available on the festival site:

Kyle Wise, co-star of “The Land Between,” acquired an agent, moved to LA, and has an exciting new role in a major motion picture!

On Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. "The Land Between" will screen in "Hallowed Ground: New Local Shorts," a program Melissa curated for The Hollywood Theatre in Portland, Oregon. Advance tickets recommended!
